Nova Scotia offers an enticing combination of outdoor adventure, fascinating history, and great wildlife viewing. Completely surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, it is particularly known for the high tides of the Bay of Fundy, the Cape Breton Highlands, its many picturesque fishing villages, and the migratory wildlife that includes puffins and whales, as well as many other seabirds. We'll start our adventure in Halifax, Nova Scotia's capital and a very happening city. We'll visit two of its most popular sites, the craggy headlands of Peggy's Cove and the historic town of Lunenburg with its many brightly colored houses, before heading north to the Bay Of Fundy. We'll watch the tides roar in from the heights of Cape Split and the vantage point of a raft. Then it's on to the Cape Breton Highlands and the famous Cabot Trail. We'll go hiking, sea kayaking, and wildlife watching, and we'll hope to find some of the music that epitomizes its rich Gaelic heritage

Canyon Calling Adventures for women

07 Jul 2019 to 14 Jul 2019

Come explore the true gems of this beautiful state!
The Rocky Mountains of Idaho are perfectly suited to Canyon Calling’s multi-activity vacations. Idaho is known as the Gem State because of the wealth of natural resources extracted over the years. However we think that the real gems are the rivers and mountains. Our white-water rafting trip on the Payette River is one of the best rafting trips in the US. Paddling is a big part of this trip – rafts, inflatable kayaks on the Payette and canoes on a pristine lake at McCall. The capital, Boise, has a wonderful greenbelt where we bike through the parks and alongside the river. The mountains of Idaho were the most formidable challenge of the two-year Lewis and Clark expedition and a historical interpreter will share marvelous stories of the explorer’s struggle to find a western route to the sea. We’ll hike in the Sawtooths and soak in one of Idaho’s many hot springs. We’ll even squeeze in a museum or two for a flavor of Idaho’s history. Old homesteader’s cabins surrounded by sage and wildflowers are sprinkled throughout the mountains and are a photographer’s delight. We love the West – and you will too!

Bonfire, stars, beautiful empty beaches and redwoods. Over five days and four nights we will explore the Lost Coast of California on 90% paved roads and 10% off road, some of my favorite riding. This trip is more isolated and rugged, cell service will be limited; Definitely a digital detox! Dual sport motorcycles are required due to the roads we are taking. Covering a little over 600 miles, we will be leaving from San Francisco and ending in Eureka. We will be staying at Hotels, BnB's and a cabin along the way. Ride with the tour guide or go at your own pace and meet up at the end of the day. Due to the isolated nature of this tour, lunches will be provided on some days. Maps, alternative routes and suggested packing list will be provided. Off road riding experience as well as experience riding longer distances are required. There will be a chase vehicle available to carry some luggage.

Fun-filled adventures in this stunning setting.
The grandeur of the Canadian Rockies stuns even the well traveled. Against this majestic backdrop of soaring snowcapped peaks, we engage in a wonderful variety of fun-filled activities including hiking, canoeing, walking a glacier, white water rafting and soaking in hot pools. Scattered like gems among these glorious mountains are soft turquoise lakes which have spilled down from the hundreds of glaciers, looking almost surreal. Bears, eagles, elk, mountain goats and big horn sheep call this patch of heaven home. It is our good fortune to be able to share it with them for this one glorious week. Enjoy the friendly Canadians and discover why their Rockies truly are a World Heritage Site.

Women’s Adventure Tour in British Columbia
Situated in northwestern British Columbia, Smithers is approximately half way between the cities of Prince Rupert and Prince George. Smithers is our home base for most of the trip, with red brick sidewalks, alpine style rooflines, and an energetic community. The surrounding mountains and valleys are dominated by forests of pine, spruce and fir. Prince Rupert is steeped in the history of the Pacific Northwest. The area is the heart of Tsimshian Nation and is home also to other First Nations. Some of the exciting outdoor recreational activities on this itinerary include hiking, fly fishing, biking, whale watching, kayaking, and the opportunity to explore many native cultures. Excellent dining (fresh caught salmon!) and SINGLE occupancy in our accommodations (with the exception of the Eagle Bluff B&B stay) provides an extra level of comfort while enjoying this extraordinary itinerary!

We'll be hiking in those three National Parks, all spectacular and all very different from the others. The Grand Canyon is vast: it is 10 miles from one side to the other and a mile deep. Bryce is famous for its amazing hoodoos, the brightly colored spires of varied shapes; and Zion, with the tallest layer of redwall limestone of any canyon, is both majestic and a much more intimate canyon that fully deserves its name. We have chosen some of the classic trails in each park, designed to give you an experience and understanding that can only be gained by hiking in them

There are many ways to hike the Appalachian Trail: day hikes, slackpacking, backpacking, and hut to hut. On this trip, however, we do it in style! We'll go lodge to lodge, staying in the lovely and very different lodges that are conveniently spaced along Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park, while our luggage is transported by van. This part of the AT is well-graded and well-maintained, with climbs rarely exceeding 500 or 1,000 feet, so it is excellent for novice hikers and anyone who enjoys vistas and abundant wildlife.

Canyon Calling Adventures for women

08 Dec 2019 to 13 Dec 2019

Often described as the most beautiful town in America, Sedona is also a wonderful place to play. With the outdoors right at our doorstep, we’ll hike the trails affording the most spectacular views at the most advantageous time of day. Our week will include a collection of easy and moderate hikes and a massage to pamper any overworked muscles. We’ll visit Sedona’s vortexes and learn an appreciation of what they’re all about. Our jeep trip across the red rocks is great fun – you won’t believe how they climb. The Native American ruins we explore are well preserved and provide us with a fascinating peek into an ancient culture. There aren’t many small towns that have such a vast collection of good restaurants and we’ll take full advantage! While still an active trip, this is more relaxed and a little shorter than most Canyon Calling itineraries, and yes there is time for shopping!

We even throw in a visit to an old west mining town. Denali National Park is a bonus addition to our 4 Parks ~ 4 Years series.

Denali is six million acres of wild land, bisected by one ribbon of road. Ranging from relatively low-elevation taiga forest giving away to high alpine tundra and snowy mountains, culminating in North America’s tallest peak, 20,310′ Denali. Wild animals large and small roam un-fenced lands, living as they have for ages. Solitude, tranquility and wilderness awaits us.

Denali was set aside to connect people to America’s past, a place that protects present wildlife and amazing landscapes for our enjoyment and that of future generations, and a place that celebrates the individual’s opportunity to experience inspiration, reflection, awe, and wonder.
